Earlier this year I took the opportunity to attend the Compassionate Communities Symposium in Sydney. It was a jam-packed 2-day event from which I learnt so much. I learnt what a Compassionate Community is and how it can be of benefit. A recent study revealed that most of our population have not even considered their funeral and what their wishes would be. It is almost always something that is not considered until the last minute or until the actual death has occurred. People are then not emotionally or financially prepared and are in a vulnerable state when faced with the reality of organising a funeral. They are also generally unaware of what products and services are available, so end up with limited choices and therefore spending more money and not necessarily getting what they would like.
